What stops at the limit

For self-serve workspaces, billable memory requests stop with HTTP 402 when the monthly allowance and prepaid credit are exhausted. Automatic top-up is off until you set up a payment method and explicitly enable it. An exhausted Free allowance does not silently become a postpaid invoice.

For a zero-spend trial, stay on Free, do not purchase credit and leave top-up disabled. Enabled top-up can purchase further packs; disable it before treating the existing wallet as a spending boundary. Your model-provider and automation charges are separate.
